From mid October to mid March we begin our Leil Shabbat service when Shabbat begins. During these months Mincha on Fridays will always begin at the candle lighting time for that week, followed by Kabbalat Shabbat and maariv.
Welcome to the Gesher Youth Program!
Full-time members have the option to register their child(ren) for the Shabbat & Yom Tov morning youth program at Young Israel of Century City. To become a member, CLICK HERE.
Young Israel of Century City is our direct neighbor. In fact, our facilities share a wall! Their youth department consists of an incredible team of educators and staff, led by Youth Director Jesse Orenshein and is open to ages 2-12 (although we highly encourage children ages 9 and older to daven with the community when possible). In addition to the staff of YICC, Happy Minyan has appointed a Childcare Assistant to facilitate check-in upon arrival and escort children back to the Happy Minyan facility at the end of the program.
What are the age group options?
Gesher offers the following age groups:
Toddlers – 3.5 years
4-6 years
7-9 years
10-12 years, Junior Congregation
What are the fees for joining Gesher?
The annual fee to enroll in the Gesher program is $250 for the first child, $175 for the second. Any additional children of the same household are free.
How does the Gesher program work?
Step 1: Complete the membership forms including the Gesher Registration form, liability waiver and payment. Forms must be complete 7 days prior to children’s participation in the Gesher Program.
Step 2: Check-in your child in with our Childcare Assistant at the second floor of YICC, 9317 West Pico Boulevard.
Step 3: When the program is complete, children will be escorted by our Childcare Assistant back to the Happy Minyan facility.
How do I know if my child will like the program before I enroll?
Dedicated Partners (full time members) who would like to “test out” the Gesher program can participate in a one-time free trial. To do so send a request to info@happyminyan.org. Requests must be made seven days prior the child’s participation.
What if there is an emergency?
In case of an emergency security personnel at both facilities can quickly and easily communicate with one another through a shared channel on their 2-way hand held radios.
If my child is enrolled in the Gesher program, does that give me access to the services, adult programming and kiddush at YICC?
No. Nonmembers of YICC participating in the Gesher program are asked to access the building only to drop their child at the youth program on the second floor. Success of this program depends on being respectful of these boundaries.
